Arrival and Departure
Staff Pick-Up and Drop-Off at Miami Airport
Unaccompanied Minors (Under Age of 13)- JMGS Staff will be available to pick-up your child
from the Miami airport as an “unaccompanied minor”. All airlines
require children flying alone, under the age of 13, to be an
“unaccompanied minor.” To fly this way requires some additional
paperwork and care. Your child will never be unattended in the airport
and our staff members will need to sign documents for release of your
child. We will also provide you with a driver’s license and contact
information for the additional airline documentation prior to the date
of the flight. On departure JMGS staff will help with baggage check-in and wait at the
departure terminal with your child until they board the flight.
Flying Alone (Over Age of 14)- JMGS Staff will be
available to pick-up and drop off your child at the Miami Airport if they are
flying alone. If your child is not flying as an official “unaccompanied
minor”, then we will meet them at the Baggage Claim relative to their
flight arrival. Our staff members will be wearing Jim McLean School
shirts and have a sign. If your child has a mobile phone, we can take
that information and call them upon arrival. They could also call our
mobile phone upon arrival. On departure JMGS staff will help with the baggage check-in and walk them to the security checkpoint for drop-off.
Doral Resort Check-In with Parents
If you will be traveling with your child to Miami, you may check-in at
the Doral Resort like a regular hotel guest. Check-In time is typically
3:00pm, however early check-in might be available on occasion.
The “Get Acquainted” Dinner will be held on Sunday at 6:30pm and check-in at Doral Resort is between 2:00pm and 6:00pm Sunday. The Awards Lunch will be held on Friday at 12pm. The following is a sample schedule for a typical week.

*A major component in Jim McLean's Teaching System is developing custom school schedules based on the students enrolled in each program. Therefore, we don't have a set schedule with pre-determined time frames or aspects of the game. The program is completely comprehensive covering the short game, long game, mental game, and course management; however we analyze our students specific needs first, before we determine what schedule is best for their improvement.

Lead Instructors
Each Junior Elite camp will be directed and taught by at least one Jim McLean certified full-time instructor. The golf instructors at the Jim McLean
Golf School are the most qualified and best trained teaching
professionals in the world. No other school requires their teachers to
undergo the extensive training that Jim McLean demands of his
professionals. The process is intensive and lasts between one and two
years depending on the individual. Click here to see the steps that new hires must graduate through to be able to join Jim's elite staff of teaching professionals.
Assistant Instructors
We
understand that making the decision to send your child off on his/her
own is not one you make lightly. That is why we use our full-time staff
members and assistant instructors to supervise the Junior Elite
golfers. Our assistant staff is among the most professional and well
trained assistant staffs in the world. All off the assistants have
college degrees and are hand picked from some of the top golf clubs in
the country.
At least one assistant instructor will be with the children
24 hours per day. They will accompany the students to all meals, make
wake-up calls and stay on the same floor in the Doral Resort. After
hours they are there to do room checks, enforce the 10:00 pm curfew and
are available for whatever is needed. The staff members stay on the
same floor in the Doral Resort as the students.

Only instructors listed as "year-round" are junior elite instructors.
The
Jim McLean Golf School is located about 9 miles from the Miami
International Airport. It takes about 15 minutes by car to the Doral
Resort or Jim McLean Golf School.
You can enter the golf school parking lot directly from NW 87th Avenue.
Take NW 87th Avenue to NW 53rd Street. Turn left at the stoplight at NW
53rd Street and NW 87th Avenue into the Hyatt Blue Resort. Drive around
the rotunda to the left and drive through the gate. The golf school is
located through the white picket fence.

ways of getting to the golf school. From the Doral Resort, go to the
Champions Pavilion (golf cart staging area) and take a golf cart to the
golf school. It is a few minutes from the clubhouse by golf cart.

We understand that
making the decision to send your child off on his/her own is not one you
make lightly. That is why we use our full-time staff members and
assistant instructors to supervise the Junior Elite golfers. At least
one chaperone will be with the children 24 hours per day. They will
accompany the students to all meals, make wake-up calls and stay on the
same floor in the Doral Resort. After hours they are there to do room
checks, enforce the 10:00 pm curfew and are available for whatever is
needed. The staff members stay on the same floor in the Doral Resort as
the students.
Activities
will be planned on several of the camp nights for the students to
socialize and have fun. All of the activities are group functions and
the students will participate in everything as a group with a
chaperone. Some examples include:
Arcade Night at Dave and Busters (Dolphin Mall)
Movie Night (PG Rated) at the Cinema or in a Doral Resort room
Pool Night at Doral Resort Swimming Pool
Other Activities might be included based on what the students prefer to do.
Students
will be transported to off-campus activities in the instructor’s
personal cars or the golf school mini-van, both of which are insured.
Off-campus activities are located a maximum distance of 5 miles from the
Doral Resort.
The
students should have a small amount of spending money for outside
activities. Maybe $50 or $100 will be plenty. If they want to purchase
golf products or souvenirs at Doral Resort, they can bill the items to
their room account.
Once
in our custody, a child will not be left alone. Many children attend
more than one camp session. On those occasions, a JMGS staff member
will stay with the children for the remainder of the day Saturday,
Saturday night at the hotel and Sunday morning. Fun activities will be
planned for that time.
Family
members are allowed to pick-up students from the Junior Elite camp for
dinners and family activities; however prior written and verbal
permission from the parents is required. A phone call from the parents
and email/fax are both required for the child to leave our supervision.
Students
will be assigned to Doral Resort rooms in double-occupancy. If students
have a request to room with another friend we will make every effort to
grant that request. Otherwise, room assignments are based on student’s
age and gender. Girls stay with girls, and boys with boys. We try to
match up the ages as best as possible. Lights go out at 10:00pm each
night.
While
students are checked-into the Doral Resort, a parent’s credit card is
required to be on file. Students are allowed to charge souvenirs,
additional food/ snacks, and other items to the room account. JMGS staff
members will help with room check-out and make sure the room bill is
correct with what the student has purchased. Each day, the students'
rooms will be cleaned by a Maid Service just like a regular hotel guest.

"My two sons have been to the Jim McLean
School a number of times and have had a fantastic experience every time.
Jim McLean's approach to teaching the golf swing recognizes that each
junior has a swing that is unique to their physiology and Jim and his
team are amazing at correcting only the most important swing faults
which keeps it simple for the student and, when fixed, creates a stream
of cascading benefits. Most importantly, they make the experience fun!
The benefits we have seen for our sons have not only been vastly
improved golf games, but also much better attitudes and approaches to
the game on course. I would highly recommend Jim McLean's Junior Elite
Program. It is simply the best of class."
Stephen Lister
Toronto, Canada
"I
really enjoyed the Junior Elite Camp. The instructors were great and
made the camp fun with a lot of drills and activities. I made some
great changes to my golf game and left with an organized improvement
plan. I hope to come back and would highly recommend this camp to my
friends."
Nate Berman, Age 16
New York
"The Jim McLean
Junior Elite School was my first experience in a golf school and it
surpassed my expectations. The attention of the coaches and the
partnership with other kids was unbelievable. They combine fun and hard
work to become the best experience ever."
Christian Eisenring Colorado, Age 17
Mexico City
"The Jim
McLean Jr. Elite Golf School was quite the experience. On my plane
flight down from Chicago, I truly did not know what to expect, but I
went into the camp with and open mind and ready to learn and I can say I
enjoyed every minute of it".
Andrew Crown, Age 16
Chicago, IL
"The Junior Elite Golf
Camp was perfect. There is no way it could be any better. I would
recommend this school to anyone that wants to get better at golf."
Michael Braunstein, Age 15
New York
"The other
students were so much fun to be with! I made long lasting friendships.
It was so great to be with other teenagers my age that have the same
passion for golf as I do. Until now we still keep each other updated on
how our golf is doing and we give each other advice on upcoming
tournaments. I had a great time and learned so much all in that one
week. Thank you so much for a great experience and for helping me
improve my golf game!"
